Symptomatic burden amongst myeloproliferative neoplasm patients: mpn-10 prospective assessment in a portuguese cohort

Introduction: Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN), including polycythemia vera (PV), essential thrombocythemia (ET), and myelofibrosis (MF), significantly impact patients’ quality of life (QoL). The symptom burden assessment continuous monitoring using the MPN Symptom Assessment Form Total Score (MPN-10) allows detecting symptomatic changes that may be signs disease progression can used as an indicator need to reassess and/or therapeutic approach.
 
 Methods: Prospective multicenter registry Portuguese patients, demographics clinical characterization, based on MPN-10.
 Results: Overall, 324 patients were included, male female ratio 0.7:1, median age 71 years old, duration >3 years. Most had ET (63%), 24% PV, 13% MF. Around 70% being treated with hydroxyurea, 31% recommended low-dose aspirin, 9% needed phlebotomy, 4% received ruxolitinib, <2% interferon. reported symptoms include fatigue, inactivity, itching, concentration problems. PV total score improved from baseline until last follow-up visit. itching a significant improvement over for did fatigue,
 problems, night sweats in patients.
 Conclusions: systematic application MPN-10 led more in-depth knowledge their symptoms, which, together analytical changes, motivated readjustments QoL gains. Future analysis this cohort should conducted refine these results.
